On the Road

February 22, 2018

It's been a busy period for us. At the beginning of January we suddenly realised that instead of things seeming far away, we could now say that THIS year we will be in Africa. That's exciting but equally challenging as we work on the logistics of moving around the world, raising awareness and travelling to churches, as well as keeping a focus on what we currently steward.

Tramway Christian Fellowship, Edmonton:

We were so grateful to be invited to TCF, Elim's church in Edmonton, North East London, to share about our journey and to preach. This amazing church is led by Robin Essex, himself a past missionary to Albania and Kosovo, and his lovely wife Rana. The worship was anointed and had much African rhythm, led by a team who would be a blessing in any church. We felt God's presence. The welcome was amazing and we welcome TCF and some new supporters to our kandbinsa newsletter.

Breakfasts:

I (Keith) have been able to visit several pastors' breakfasts across the Elim Metropolitan Regions of the Elim Pentecostal Churches, visiting Ipswich, Leytonstone, Hayes, St.Albans, Crawley and Lewisham. When work commitments allowed Barbie joined me. These have been encouraging times. At the St.Albans breakfast one of the pastors had a prophetic word for us, which in part was:

There is [the sound of] key in your name.

God has keys in his hand over the nation and he will unlock things yet unseen there as you and Barbie go.

You are also a key. There are keys God has given you that will unlock things not yet seen in your life but also in the nation that will be bring newness and refreshing.

The hallmark of your ministry will be love, mercy and grace...

You will show and model something that is different to the current Pentecostal and charismatic religion that has been so much of the church scene and the history there. You will show them a new way and there will be many churches planted, lives saved and the kingdom established.

Another pastor felt that Isaiah 55:12-13 was a promise from God to us:

You will go out in joy
    and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
    will clap their hands.
Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
    for an everlasting sign,
    that will endure forever.”

With such encouragement we are even more excited by God's plan in all of the change and pressures that brings.

Big Quiz Night:

One of the members at Life Church has undertaken some fund-raising for us to help

with set up costs. She has organised two events, the first of which took place on Saturday 3rd February, a quiz night. Many people with no church background came and mingled with the Christians there. It was a tremendous night with 130 people coming out. Thank you Sue for all your efforts. An incredible £900 was raised towards purchasing a vehicle.

TBNUK

Our good friend,Patrcik Regan OBE, has been commissioned by TBNUK for a 12 part TV

series called, When Faith Gets Shaken. This looks at how Christians can go through some incredibly tough times yet still come out stronger in their faith. Patrick and his wife Diane are an inspirational couple. It was a privilege to appear in one of these shows and tell our story of difficulties and transition. We will let you know when the series is to be broadcast later this year.

Missions Academy

As part of our development we are part of the Elim Missions Academy. This is a programme of training that includes reading set books, DVD's, Skype conferences, and training days. In February we had a training day in Malvern at ELim's International Conference Centre. This was such an encouragement and inspirational teaching was shared by Paul Hudson and Keith Warrington. Danielle Face shared her missionary experiences too. We have a residential week coming up in May.

Swearing in Ceremony:

For many years we debated whether Barbie should apply for British Citizenship. One of the reasons we had not done so was the immense cost of this. However, if she leaves the UK for more than 90 days a year she would lose her residential status here. Having made the decision to apply God miraculously provided through two generous gifts specifically for this. Barbie's application has been successful. She was sworn in as a British citizen on 21st February at the Council Chambers in Chelmsford. She retains her South African citizenship so she has dual nationality. All this has been another massive answer to prayer.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for our itinerary whilst here in the UK. For travelling mercy and for more new partners.

  • Please pray for us as we go to South Africa on 19th March for two weeks to find a safe area to live, apply for medical insurance and build relationships. We will also be attending the Emmanuel Fellowship's Annual Conference. This is the daughter church of Elim whom we'll be working alongside.

  • Please pray for Life Church. Phil Hannam, who has served as the Associate Pastor for five years, will be inducted as the new Senior Pastor on Saturday 10th March. At this point Keith will become the Associate Pastor until he leaves.
